I just figured at this point the Reds would punish Bryan Price by making him manage this awful team through the season, then fire him.

How he wasn’t canned two seasons ago, I’ll never know.

It has to be fun to live in Pittsburgh right now. Both the Pens and the Buccos riding sky high these days.

Reds appoint Jim Riggleman as interim manager.

When last seen managing, he was demanding a contract extension from the Nationals after a June 2011 hot streak. He quit when they said no. Even though he must have thought he was the reason they were winning (they finished 80-81 that year), the Nationals haven't had a losing season since.

    Reds are a joke.

Part of the reason Freeman "only has 12 RBI" is that Ender Inciarte has sucked ass this year and isn't getting on base (he has a .280 OBP, and that's AFTER five hits in his last two games).

There seems to be optimism Freeman didn't break his hand/wrist, but they're supposed to make an official announcement later this morning.

So are the Pirates. It looks like they may actually have a contender, but they subtracted more than they added during the offseason, hurting their chances at making the playoffs or making a run if they get there.

Lucky for Pittsburgh sports fans they have the Penguins, an example of a team that holds on to its elite players and builds around those guys. Even with the restrictions of the salary cap and the expansion draft, they managed to keep their core together and add key components when necessary.

Pirates employ smart people and have a plan. They are light years ahead of the Reds, no matter the results.

The Reds are an inept organization run by idiots who don't know what they are doing.

McCutchen picked up a couple of hits last night, but he's still around .200. I think the Pirates front office saw the writing on the wall there, as did every other organization in baseball. I suspect the market for his services was not very big.

    They subtracted a guy who's hitting .209 with 2 homers, 8 RBIs, .284 OBP, .328 SLG% and .277 wOBA ...

    They added a guy who's hitting .354 with a homer, 12 RBIs, .354 OBP, .525 SLG% and .373 wOBA ...

    And, they're in first place.

I fucking love that @Songbird uses wOBA in all instances now.

Oh, the Pirates definitely have better baseball people than the Reds, but ownership always finds a way to muck things up. That's what makes them a joke.

They also subtracted a pitcher who has a 0.96 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 41 strikeouts through 28 innings pitched this season. Funny how you and Dickie keep trying to leave that bit out.
