Abortions kill a million babies a year.

The question raised had to do with "back-alley" (i.e., illegal) abortion-related deaths. Your report says there were zero such in 2013 (and there hasn't been one since 2004).

No baby has ever been killed by abortion, and never will be, by definition.

Firstly, it's pro-choice, not pro-abortion. There is a difference. The only ones who are pro-abortion are zero-population growth people and a few other types who are a distinct minority.

Secondly, you're comparing a state that has more than 500 clinics, according to Guttmacher, to a state that has just one, which handles a few hundred abortions a year.

Thirdly, as Azrael noted, there are other factors, such as whether women in Mississippi are traveling to other states, or, just due to a more conservative environment, choosing (key word) to give birth instead of aborting.

Which kinda is the point, isn't it? There aren't back-alley deaths because there aren't back-alley clinics.

There were four deaths from legal clinics, from more than 900,000 legal abortions. There were 30 deaths from 130,000 illegal abortions.

Abortions don't kill babies. People kill babies.

Dentists and optometrists are health care facilities. Do they have admitting privileges?

The risk of dying from complications of a tonsillectomy was far higher in 1972 than it is now. Yours is a nonsensical comparison ... which is neither here nor there as regards my hypothesis/conjecture. If it's harder to get a legal abortion in, e.g., Mississippi (and it is), then we should be seeing Mississippi women dying from complications of illegal abortions at a greater rate than those in more liberal states. We don't.

Extreme poverty might have something to do with that.

The reason I'm almost certain -- as certain as an outsider/layperson can be in such matters -- that the mortality risk of illegal abortion isn't really a thing even when legal abortions are hard to get, is that if it was a thing (meaning it was higher), you can bet your sweet bippy that Planned Parenthood et al. would be blaring that stat to high heaven.
