    .333/.378/.619. through 45 plate appearances.

He’s probably good. Too soon to say for sure.

We're supposed to wait till the 57th at bat for the next hitting update.

In other baseball news, Kyle Schwarber’s 2018 has started a lot differently than his 2017.

The Astros can be bad for any pitcher's ERA. But this is the second Ohtani start in a row where his strike-ball ratio (55 strikes, 98 pitches) has been suboptimal.

The consensus surrounding him even before he signed was that you don’t have the time to excel at both hitting and pitching in the major leagues. I think in their heart of hearts the Angels know this. The most likely possibility is that he ends up picking a path.

If he settles into a really hard thrower with questionable control (might not!) then hitting and playing the outfield is his best bet of a long career. There have been many pitchers in history, and really only Nolan Ryan was able to be great with that formula. Of course, that was the book on Koufax in the first 3-4 seasons of his career, too.

If the 2018 Nats truly do suck, do they trade Harper at the deadline?

Are there teams looking for a part-time player?

Harper is a part-time player? This is a new one to me ...

I know Dick is gonna Dick, but I'm wondering what the genesis of this one is? You think Harper takes a bunch of games off?

Last year, I noted that Harper seemed to take a lot of “planned days off” for a 24-year-old physical specimen. You lost your gourd. I was making a joke about that.
