    I suppose this replicates his playing pattern in Japan, but it's hard for me to understand how anyone can get into any kind of rhythm playing in fits and starts like this.

    Was he used this infrequently as a hitter? I thought he was in the lineup whenever he wasn't throwing. Hopefully this doesn't turn into the next incarnation of The Joba Rules, which is laughable in hindsight because that dude was a lot of overblown hype.

    Miles Mikolas, pitching for the Cardinals today, finished second last year in the Japanese Central League last year with a 2.25 ERA. His ERA so far this season is nearly a full run better than Ohtani's.
