That's how my hamstring's been, too. You don't just heal, I guess, by staying off of it totally. You also heal by just not overdoing things when you do train. I've run 8-10-8 the last three days, all of them at 8 minutes or faster, and it keeps getting better each day.

Had one last October that nagged me for a couple of months. Subluxation around the C-5-6 vertebrae caused pain down the right arm, especially sitting at a computer, which I was told is the worst possible posture for such things.

About two dozen sessions with a chiropractor and some soft tissue therapy fixed everything up, although I do still notice some neck tightness from time to time.

@Dick Whitman, when's the race, next Sunday? And (I'm sure you've mentioned but I'm too lazy to dig, so remind me) what's your goal time-wise?
I find myself weirdly invested in your performance, thanks to this thread.

It’s this coming Sunday, yes. Hopefully my hamstring clears up and I don’t lose any fitness between now and Sunday from resting. It’s such a delicate balancing act.

I’m shooting for 3:10, which will almost certainly qualify me for Boston 2019. I ran a 3:17 in November.

My kids both have come down with the flu, so I fully expect that all my training is going to go out the window this week now.

    Oh no. Good luck.

    Stay away from those kids!

And now my wife is also sick.

The taper is just maddening. I thought Whitman Jr.'s games would help me get through the week - he's been really coming around as a hitter, under my tutelage - and now he's sick and can't play. So I just sit here like a caged animal, hoping I don't get sick between now and Sunday morning and trying to motivate myself to do something at work at some point.

Short dry run today. Four miles today at 6:59 pace. Mostly felt good.

    Great job.

Focus on work. Find healthy distractions. Do a little deep breathing. Stretch. Relax. Visualize.

    We'll get to Sunday.

Hadn’t done much swimming in the past couple decades, but now that I’ve joined the Y, I’m going to try and make that part of my routine.

Spend 30 minutes in the pool — roughly 22 minutes swimming and the rest “jogging.” Was a great workout. Will be feeling it in the morning.
