He’s being accused of sexual assault because he took “no” for an answer? That’s why conservatives are so pissed. Real conservative men don’t take “no” for an answer

 

Has any news story or accuser used the term “sexual assault”? I don’t know. I haven’t followed the story very closely. I’m just starting to dig into it.

 

OK, this sounds pretty bad.

The claim, or the reporting?

The original, on the record claim, to the Washington Post is damning.

Brokaw invites himself over to a young, underling's hotel room, who's career he can make or break, and tries to kiss her, and suggest an affair.

It might not be sexual assault, but the power dynamic alone makes it troubling, and should have been a fireable offense, if she'd come forward at the time.

It's like the thing with Lauer. He says the relationships were consensual.

But, the point is, every pretty, young, female production assistant should not be placed in the position where they have to decide whether or not to engage in consensual sex with Matt Lauer -- or Tom Brokaw -- as a term of their employment.

They shouldn't be put in a position where they have to worry what will happen to their career if they don't "consent".

 

The claim is pretty bad. And it sounds like other people were in the room. That’s some “Mad Men” shit.

 

Yes. Even beyond the hotel room incident, the accusations are troubling.

 

Let's all remember too, that while nearly every guy has gone in for a kiss, and gotten the cheek, the details matter.

Especially if the subject of your affection is a coworker, if you want to kiss her, ask her out for a date. If she says yes, and you have a pleasant date, it would not be wildly inappropriate to go in for a "perfunctory kiss" goodnight.

But, what we've seen is Glenn Thrush Getting drunk at a bar, with younger co-workers, and trying to kiss them, or Tom Brokaw showing up at a younger co-worker's hotel room.

These aren't dates. You received no indication that the women involved were interested in you. Don't try to kiss them.

 

This ran in a college newspaper. I’m confident the harassment happened, and I’d have to be, after reading half of it. But the presentation, like some longform academic report, makes me wonder what they’re teaching at Michigan.
