Nimmo is a former first round pick who probably should be the Mets' regular center fielder. But in their continuing desire to not put their best players on the field (like when they jerked Conforto around for 2 years), the Mets decided to sign Jay Bruce to a multi-year deal.

 

Many fine people on both sides of the Ohtani disagreement.

 

To be fair, it's only been recently that Nimmo has been playing well. In his first couple of seasons, which he spent on the shuttle to Vegas, he really didn't show much of anything.

Bruce also can play first, and was insurance for Dominick Smith flaming out.
