Saw it last night. Didn't quite hate it as much as you ... but not sure I liked it. Thought it was finally ramping up when the police come to his hotel room, but it calmed back down.

I'm not sure how a viewer knows all the things about Joe that are written in the reviews just from watching the movie. The flashbacks are disjointed and not fully explained. The dialogue is so quiet it's hard to hear. I'm still not sure what the senator did.

And I wonder if the title doesn't explain it all. Maybe none of it really happened, or is all just a fantasy after one of his early suicide attempts was successful .

Maybe, yeah. And it’s beyond me how any reviewer would know that stuff.

I just don’t like having to figure much out. I don’t know, call me lazy, but this was a waste of time for me.

Watched The Darkest Hour and I, Tonya over the past week. Can’t really get two more different movies. Enjoyed both.

Haven’t seen all the Oscar-winning performances. But Oldman and Janney were both outstanding.

Said to my wife that I’m not sure I’d have known that was Oldman if I didn’t know it was him.

  5. Avengers Infinity War.
    Awesome!!!!
Among the best of the Marvel movies.

Wind River: Short Netflix movie about a tracker who helps an inexperienced FBI agent find a killer on a Indian Reservation. Solid entertainment.

Non-spoiler version, I thought Avengers: Infinity War was outstanding. I don't think it gives much away to say people walked out stunned.

Got around to "Thor: Ragnarok" tonight and thought it was the best Thor film that's been made. However, I was annoyed by the "Stranger Things" style soundtrack and obvious ripoff of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" comedy routine. The scene with Thor slowly spinning in front of Surtur was painfully obvious and predictable "comedy."

That said, it got better as the film moved along and took itself more seriously while still including some humor (basically, everything after Thor escaped the Hulk's room was really good)

This was Tom Hiddleston's best turn as Loki, and I loved the rock character Korg. The Valkyrie character was awesome and I hope we see more of her in future films.

A Quiet Place. Enjoyed a fresh take on the suspense/horror flick.

Small cast. All were good. Incredibly tense moments.

Watched "The Shape of Water" last night and it was beautifully filmed, well acted and deserving of every bit of praise. But something about it left me a little flat. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I guess I didn't connect with it. It didn't make me feel anything. I just kind of watched and followed the plot and enjoyed the look of the film.

As a fan of "Creature from the Black Lagoon" films when I was a kid, was biased to dislike this movie.

Several months later, was talking to my son (16) about this, and he said "its a metaphor Dad, the creature is how blacks/asians/minorities were viewed before in movies/life and finally someone in the majority will love them." I revised my review of the movie accordingly.
