    Every now and then, like next year, Mother's Day is on my birthday and I always come in second. I need to stop being bitter about that. This year, because I have to head to D.C. for my daughter's wedding, we're doing my birthday on Tuesday. The kids are likely hanging out with their Mom today - I was not in favor of a birthday/Mom's Day doubleheader so I'll wait until Tuesday.

    I went to post a photo of my late mother and I for mother’s day and I realized I don’t have any. None. She hated to be photographed, so that’s part of it. Another is that my sisters have most of our family photos. Still, it was startling.
