12-for-12-for-12, and 8 of 'em were shutouts. That streak is staggering to behold.

Now do Koufax and Drysdale ... oh wait, they both blew their arms out.

Koufax also dealt with traumatic arthritis. That said, the amount he pitched did not help things, either.

Traumatic arthritis brought on (or at least exacerbated) by throwing all those innings. Also, it's a generally accepted fact that Koufax's career would have probably been extended by Tommy John surgery had it existed at the time.

The DH can be used in place of any batter/position player in the lineup, right?

Have the Angels considered using it for someone else besides the pitcher when Ohtani pitches?

I think they are trying to keep him as fresh as possible, at least during his adjustment period.

I'm just curious, because while I believe it's the rule, and is sometimes done at lower levels, I'm not sure it's ever been done in MLB.

Batting a pitcher higher than 9th in the lineup is so rare, so doing this would be really interesting.

Does anyone know if it has been done?

As a batter, it would be pretty humbling to be skipped over for a regular pitcher, but I don't think there'd be too much stigma if it was to get Ohtani's bat in the lineup.
