FWIW, sports gambling hasn't been legalized, as the thread title says. The barrier to legalization has been removed and states or the federal government are now free to enact legislation that would legalize it.

I don't disagree, but no one knows for sure. Some state might be crazy enough to think it can run a betting house and keep a bigger share of the pie than if it outsources the operation. Several big Vegas oddsmakers were once lured to the Caribbean and elsewhere to help open betting shops and it's possible some state might go the same route. Or some state's governor will create a gaming commission, hand over the reins to a crony and get crushed. Anything is possible when you let states do their thing.

People keep bringing up baseball in Vegas, but it seems to me the NBA makes a hell of a lot more sense. Not sure it's a good MLB market.

As a tangent, this has to be a significant move in continuing to expose the sham that is the NCAA, right? It's going to be billions more legally approved dollars resting on the shoulders of unpaid interns, who may or may not have their own secret stake in a game's outcome (as they may or may not now).

Monmouth Park in New Jersey has a room that has been used for private parties and such, but has otherwise been sitting there waiting to be a sports book.

I wonder if the Raider tax has kicked in yet.
