I was more interested that Albies hit his 13th home run. I wonder if Bautista can field well enough at third to stay in the lineup. He hasn't played more than a handful of games there in a season since 2011.

Agreed. I don't think he'll be an integral part of the lineup, but that was a sweet homer.

The Pittsburgh Pirates, challenging the old adage that it's better to be pissed off than pissed on:

Jameson Taillon will do anything, literally, to help heal his finger

Diamondbacks’ A.J. Pollock departs with sprained left thumb

The Diamondbacks are in some trouble. They lost their sixth game in a row last night and probably their best hitter so far in 2018. A.J. Pollock was off to a great start, but as he tends to do, he got hurt last night. They are calling it a sprained thumb, but given his history with injuries, it's tough to be optimistic.

And yes, I've had Pollock on my fantasy baseball team the last three years (not this season).

Good thing Cano broke his hand, I guess:

Would he be the biggest star suspended for PED use since Manny Ramirez? Or am I missing someone?

EDIT: A-Rod and Ryan Braun were after Manny.

    Is Braun bigger than Cano?

Oh yeah. He initially got it coming off his MVP season, then it mushroomed into the huge appeal/controversy when those with the emotional IQ of a child still thought he was clean. That was an enormous controversy spanning multiple years. Plus the anti-Semitism and Cubs fanboi tendencies of the drug tester!

So when he finally got it and had to admit what a fraud he was, that was a very large story.

Cano (minus steroids) is a HOFer. I don't think Braun is.

Braun has a first, a second and a third in MVP finishes; Cano's best is one third-place. Braun has more HRs in far fewer PAs already. Cano has more hits. About the same in BA and OBP.

Braun will never get in because of the PEDs, but on the numbers he's a better candidate than Cano. And as to when the suspension happened, his was a far bigger story. Cano really isn't that big of a deal nationwide.
