They're the party of states' rights when it suits them.

Akin to a story I just saw on the WWL. Of all the big hotel/casino chains, Harrah's is best equipped to open sports books since they have the software already. Before AP started running Glanz-Culver, the Harrah's line was the word on football.

Once the states make this legal - and a new revenue stream, because no one anywhere should ever pay any taxes for anything, etc. - I wonder if it eventually this kills the little hand book, the guy in the candy store up the street.

Gambling and loan sharking are the two main things that keep mobsters in business. This could put a little crimp in their operations.

I wonder if there might be some less enlightened state that simply says, “Boys, have at it.” Nah, who am I kidding? No one anywhere should ever be able to do anything unless the state gets a piece of the action.

I watched the Derby from my local bar. They passed a hat around bar, $20 to draw a name of a horse. Draw the winning name get $400.

Come to the bar, draw numbers for box sheets.

What will be needed is video terminals to place bets in bars. The bar gets a cut, like any other device. You can bet games, money line or odds. You can parlay. You can bet the week. The machine is connected to a sports book in Vegas so you get national odds, not Tony trying to fuck you over.

On a farm way back up in the woods.
I was so ragged the folks used to call me "Patches."
