Bad day for me. I had the under 6 1/2 justices voting yes...

And how long after Illinois puts this in place do they start welching on paying their winners?

Vegas doesn't pay. I think the issue has been settled with the fantasy lawsuit. The names and scores are facts that the public can use. The NFL thing is a contractual issue with Sunday Ticket. Bars pay a different rate for Sunday Ticket than a homeowner. Plus, copyright laws restrict how live sports can be shown at bars.

Listening to the golf industry yesterday made my ears bleed. "The PGA Tour stands to make more than 6 billion a year in integrity fees!" "They have proprietary information!" No and no. I love golf, but if I'm a new bookmaker and the PGA Tour tells me they want the 1 percent cut, I'm telling them to pound sand. Betting shops can manage without golf. And as others have said, scores are not proprietary information. The Tour's stats might be, but no one's betting on how many putts Tiger takes in a round.

Even putts in a round wouldn't be protected.

Well, that can be a gray area with putts from the fringe, off the green, etc. My greater point is that the PGA Tour thinks its ShotLink data is proprietary and salable to gambling interests and I think that's a stretch. People bet on the scores and players, at least right now. I could see a time when you could sit by the 17th hole at Sawgrass and bet on your phone or at a kiosk on whether a guy will hit it in the water, but I don't need the Tour's stats app to tell me if I won or lost that bet.

Funny that you bring that up, because I recently found this answer ridiculous.

In USGA Championships where putts are counted, the player has made his first putt once he has made a stroke from the putting green and all subsequent strokes are counted as putts.
