This reminds me of part of the reason I don't think players who are suspended for PED use should ever reach the Hall of Fame. The money available already makes it nearly a no-brainer to use PEDs. Banning players who fail a test from HOF eligibility is one of the few deterrents that might possibly mean something to them.

They really could clean up the game further pretty easily. A year suspension, ban from HOF consideration and contract is voided for a first offense. Lifetime ban and contract voided for a second offense. You'd have very few players using them under those circumstances. The risk to their careers would be too great for all but the fringe players.

Also, Ellsbury was with the Red Sox and Cashman figured he was adding a good player and taking one away from their biggest rival in one fell swoop.

Following up from earlier, Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock is out six-to-eight weeks with a fractured bone in his thumb. He injured the thumb trying and failing to make a diving catch Monday night.

I feel sorry for the Mariners' ticket office because I can already hear all the moans coming out of the PNW, "MOM! Why can't we go see that future Hall of Famer Robinson Cano this weekend?!?" God knows he's single-handedly sold a metric shit ton of tickets, as HOF'ers are known to do.

Thought that was why they signed Ichiro.

Don't worry, you can still see him warm up and take BP each game before he watches it from the dugout.

Good idea, but the union would never in a million years agree to void a contract for anything. They'd have even filed a grievance against MLB if the Angels had tried to void Reggie Jackson's contract at the end of The Naked Gun.

Oh, of course not. They'd never agree to any part of that proposal.

By the time Cano gets on the ballot, most of the codgers keeping Bonds and Clemens out won't be voting.
