What did I do wrong here?

    I didn't do anything illegal.

I'm sure you've been angry with people who didn't do anything illegal, also. Doesn't mean those people didn't piss you off in some way.

I don't honk my horn at them. If a cop wouldn't have stopped me for what I did he has no business honking at me.

See, this is where you take a bad turn (again). Let it go. We all deal with shit like this every day. Shrug off the dumb stuff.

Look on the bright side. Your car was actually running (albeit too damn slowly).

Yeah, I guess. Here's the thing, Several years ago, at that same intersection as a matter of fact, I was going another direction. A woman pulled out of her driveway. She thought I came a little too close to her. Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't. She threatened to shoot me.
Another time, many years ago, I cut a guy off. Not on purpose, of course. It's not like I go out looking to hit people. I haven't had an at-fault accident in almost a decade and it was during a blizzard. But this guy pulls in front of me, drives about 200 yards ahead of me, backs up at me at speed and suddenly stops, just to teach me a lesson, I guess. I think there's a difference between making a mistake and doing something on purpose, though I guess he has a point. If he got hurt or killed, the fact that I didn't mean to do it wouldn't have made him any less dead.
But two no-harm, no-foul situations and somebody wanted to kill me. Why?
    It's only driving.

I am now convinced this is a parody account.

You did nothing wrong.... until you flipped him off. That's a bold and dangerous move, Cotton.

I know it's tough to believe, but I am an extremely law-abiding driver. I go the limit, or one under, and come to a full and complete stop at stop signs. That pisses off a large segment of my fellow area drivers, apparently. Guess what? I don't care. If they don't like it, they can go around me. I'm in a big F-150, and I'm not real worried about them damaging my ride.

On a side note, young guys in jacked-up pickups are to be avoided at every turn.

He was an older guy actually, 40s or 50s.
If he needed to get to the hospital, he should have called 911. If he needed to get to work at 7 and not 7:01, he should have left earlier.
    No sympathy for him whatsoever.

You should write Oprah. Or Ellen. They could probably help you. Might get some free stuff, too!
