Man, Cardi B lost a lot of weight since she was on two months ago ;). I just hope this Chinese cultural appropriation talk that started before the show ended dies. (And did anybody notice it was a rare occasion where the audience mike was on during a song?)

It doesn't take much to be considered attractive on SNL. (male or female). I mean Scarlett Johansson is going out with Jost and Jason Sudekis is married to Olivia Wilde. I'm still bummed about Nasim Pedrad's exit.

Okay, let the speculation begin. Who’s back? Who’s not?

I don’t see anyone leaving for a lucrative film career or sitcom opportunities. Only one I think that would have a shot is McKinnon, and she ain’t going nowhere. Too much the MVP of SNL right now. Lorne would overpay to keep.

I was disappointed that Kenan Thompson went out with such a whimper; I don't even think he was on the stage for the abbreviated curtain call.

The only departures I envision would be one of the lesser featured players, or the main cast members that don't really get much like Mooney or Davidson.

Kenan has said that he'd like to keep coming back as long as he's welcomed. Sketch comedy is practically all he's ever known. I think he was just lost among the 15 or so cameos.

Whenever Kate leaves, she'll get one of those grand farewells like Kristen Wiig did.

Luke Null and perhaps Melissa Villasenor (mainly because they don't do anything Trump related).
Heidi Gardner gets my vote for Rookie of the Year.

Luke Null: Gone, gone, gone. He brought nothing.

That might be it unless one of the veterans moves on.

Look at the artists who played this season. Compare the performers to the SNL musical guest lineup for the 1982-83 season.

    Queen
    George Thorogood & The Destroyers
    The Clash
    Men at Work
    The New Joe Jackson Band
    Kenny Loggins
    Squeeze
    Laura Branigan
    Lionel Richie
    The Bus Boys
    Joe Cocker/Jennifer Warnes
    Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
    Randy Newman
    Leon Redbone
    Duran Duran
    Musical Youth (OK, but anyway.)
    Michael McDonald
    Stevie Wonder
    Kevin Rowland/Dexy's Midnight Runners

Troye Sivan? Dua Lipa? Migos? C'mon.

At least Musical Youth's one hit still lives. We had a guy name Dutchie as our high school athlete of the week last fall, and that wonderful piece of reggae fluff bounced around the newsroom like it was 1983 again.
Within the last few weeks, Thorogood (casino) and McDonald (theater) have played my little state.

I'd argue that music doesn't have the same cultural relevance now as it did back then, though. Dua Lipa and Migos are plenty hot with the kids, but I imagine the reliance on "new" music is less important now than in the past, since with things like Spotify or YouTube, you have the entire back catalog of music at your fingertips for free too.
