And, at least at one point, No. 2 in line for the title was Dr. Doom. Wonder if that's how they might introduce him into the MCU, once the Fox rights settle out, instead of yet another Fantastic Four reboot. Have him blend magic and high tech, throw in the tragic back story of trying to rescue his Gypsy mother from Hell (and maybe have it be the reason he needs the Sorcerer Supreme title from Strange), and you've got yourself a pretty good take on a villain who desperately deserves one.

That is kind of like Kevin Smith's take, though he wanted the signal on to be a 4. He seems to think the Fantastic Four would get this huge fan reaction. I'm not sure that is the case. I get the tradition of the characters and I didn't even hate the first movie as much as most people seem to hate it, but those characters just don't resonate the way the X-Men do right now.

As an aside, I assume we'll see Clint in the Ant-Man & Wasp movie specifically because of the scene mentioning them both.

I kind of thought the opposite, though maybe he shows up in a post-credits scene. I've been assuming all along that we won't see Clint Barton until Avenger 4.

I do think that the post-credits scene in Ant-Man and Wasp, and you know there will be at least one, will be an Infinity War tie-in with somebody turning to dust. Maybe they go to find Clint and discover him alone in his home, surrounded by dust that used to be his family. It has been my guess for a while that he will switch to the Ronan costume after the loss of his family. That is primarily because I know the MCU takes a lot of inspiration from the Ultimate line and Clint's family was murdered in those books.

Of course, it could also just be a switch to protect his family because is supposed to give up the superhero thing to stay out of trouble.

Saw the movie again and had the same reaction only stronger. It's the sign of a franchise running out of ideas. You see it a lot on the CBS cop/spy/medical dramas for the old folks. The cliffhanger ending gets so over the top there's no way to come back except through a massive letdown requiring complete suspension of disbelief that's too much even for comic book fans. The sequel probably won't suck, because Marvel's too technically competent for that, but it will be ridiculous.

The snap was right out of the comics and comic book fans got over the way they overcome it just fine.

Comic books cost a little less than first run movies.

Given that Jeremy Renner has been upset about MCU's handling of his character, I assume they wouldn't sit him out of seven consecutive films. He was conspicuously mentioned in the same sentence as Ant-Man. Also, Ant-Man appears quite separated from the rest of the Avengers, so it seems natural if they're going to add one of them to the mix, Clint would be the one. I'd be surprised if he doesn't show up in that one. Of course, I guess I can just go to IMDB and see if he's cast in the film. BRB.

EDIT: He's not listed in the cast.

You said it was too much for comic book fans. Clearly, it was not.

It was more a matter of being true to certain aspects of the source material. They have literally decades of ideas to mine for these movies, so the idea that they've run out is kinda silly.

That could fit my theory that he might appear only in a post-credits scene. Those appearances don't always make it to IMDB until the movie comes out, with a few of Deadpool 2's surprises being an example.

IT’S based on a comic book, nobody really dies, why should it be any different for movies made from the comic books? These 2 movies, Infinity Wars and Part 2, have been the culmination of a decade of planning and this series is the second best series of movies in history. Only Harry Potter has been better. I expect Part 2 to be well done and not ridiculous, keeping in mind the context is a comic book
