Jesus Christ, of course these people are using MS-13—which nobody had heard of a few months ago despite its existing since the 1980s, and which none of us has ever encountered in our natural lives—to paint brown immigrants as scary. They'll use MS-13 as an excuse to curb all migration—FOR SAFETY—and America's significant population of racists and dunderheads will buy into it, because they will be buy into anything that gives them a sniff of a chance to keep America white.

 

It's fun watching Trumpistas pointing to context on the animals comment, but getting angry when people point to his years of previous context about Hispanics in general.

 

When Trump manages to condemn murderers who aren't brown, the focus is on the act, not the biological state of the perpetrator. Remember when Heather Heyer was murdered? We were urged to remember that the killer was on the side of "very fine people." But in this case, we don't need that kind of individual consideration. It's just casual talk about "bad people" whom we don't need to view as people at all.

 

The Zetas make MS-13 look like a bunch of boy scouts. And I live 500 miles from the border.

 

I’ll have you know I live in the biggest MS-13 wasteland in the country, according to our former Republican candidate for governor!

On a serious note, I actually used to live and work in an area with a lot of gang activity, and MS-13 and the Latin Kings were the two mentioned most often. That was almost 20 years ago.

They aren’t some made-up boogeyman.

 

I'm not saying they're made up, and I'm not saying I'd want them in my living room. I'm saying that I hadn't heard of them until Trump starting using them as an excuse to be racist, and I suspect I'm not alone.

 

I am not sure how anybody has not heard of MS-13. This is in no way a defense of the orange buffoon but MS-13 and talk of them is not new.
