Zero knowledge? I'll have you know that I've had digestive organs taken out by both systems, and only one burned the fuck out of me and tried to bill me $48,000 for the privilege.

I wasn't referring to your knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system. I was referring to you knowing zero about the background of the physician I referenced.

    Keep plucking that chicken.

You'd be wrong... again. At least you're consistent.

    For fuck's sake ...

He went to an in-network emergency room. He still ended up with a $7,924 bill.

I know someone who was dinged because the AMBULANCE was out of network. How the fuck to you call an in-network ambulance?

The part about the doctor not being part of ANY insurance business is craziness. It's one thing for a beverly hills plastic surgeon to not take insurance. But it's crazy that any hospital would give admitting privileges to a doctor that doesn't accept ANY insurance.

Had never seen this thread before. Two years ago, I had a suspicious (but non-malignant) mole removed. $17,000.

I'm a little late to this thread but any notion that the American health care system is the best is crazy. Of course all the price gouging providers love it.

True, the American health care system is most likely not the best in the world...but for sake of an argument, I wonder how the rest of the world's combined health care would be if it wasn't allowed access to the pharmaceuticals and technology Americans have developed in the past 300 years?

I haven't read the entire thread, but the way these insurance companies operate is disgraceful. When my mother died, she still had outstanding bills and suddenly the insurance companies started denying everything. They figured it would be tougher for her sons to figure things out and come after them.

You just have to assume they will always try to get out of paying any way possible.
