Howard Bryant, journalist, is free to interview Tamir Rice's mother.

I wonder if Howard Bryant thinks having written the one book somehow precludes him from talking to Tamir Rice's mom now?

Like Godard said, "In order to criticize a movie, you have to make another movie." It's a working business.

Hope he calls her. I'll read it. On this board, there's perhaps no one who'd prefer more strident gun restrictions. What happened to Rice should never happen.

The protest, at this point, is about the act of protesting.

At this point, I think this is largely true.

It's now about standing up to the man -- be it Trump, the league, the team owner, or "white supremacy" in general.

The protest is about the "right to protest" more than it's about the original issue.

And, thanks to journalists, who are taking no risks of their own, it's now becoming a litmus test for African-American players.

You and others have no fucking clue why these guys are protesting. You haven't lived their lives, the lives of their families, the lives of their friends. You've only lived life through the prism of your eyes. And yet you and others actually think you have figured out exactly why they are protesting. Jesus fucking christ, the gall of some of you assholes.

Let's look at what the players themselves have said in recent days.

What have they referenced, other than their "right to protest"?

The politics thread is open again. Please take your political discussions there. Thank you.

    Blow me.

This whole fucking thread is about politics.

If speech is the issue, it's worth looking at whether people are consistent.

If you support the players' right to protest, do you also support free speech on college campuses?

It is possible to discuss the issue without attacking liberals. Well, it is possible for most people. I'm not sure if you can have any discussion without eventually turning it into an attack on liberals.

Regarding your first point, no thank you. That's not my thing. Not that there is anything wrong with it. :)

None of them are on a time table to give YOU a quote.

If you don't know why Colin Kaepernick sat or kneeled during a game, before he was blackballed, that is on you.
