Joe DiMaggio and pop culture

I read that a few months back. It really paints a picture of a man tortured by the past.

 

The Richard Ben Cramer biography (which was published shortly after DiMaggio died but reported on/written largely while he was still alive), is excellent as well. An amazing job of reporting, seeing as how DiMaggio was famous for cutting off anyone in his circle who talked about him on the record.

Regarding this thread, I believe Hemingway references Joe D. several times in "The Old Man and the Sea."

 

Meh, I was always more of a Ted Williams person.
