Yeah ... George Wallace having been a member sure is a black mark on the GOP.

Ask Jeffery Epstein, Trump, and Alan Dershowitz about that.

I was referring to Wallace more by ideology, which tracks nicely with the modern GOP, than specific party affiliation.
Not an ideal choice. Thankfully, there are so many others to pick.

George Wallace was a Democrat who among with other Democrats voted against the civil rights act that Eisenhower was pushing in 1957.

As Democrat in 1963 he defied court order by Republican federal judge to integrate University of Alabama.

He ran for President on American Independent Party.

Following the Ted Cruz line of "the Democrat party is the party of racism," I see. Only 40 to 50 years out of date.
Your party is the proud home of such fine, upstanding citizens as the President of the United States, who calls black NFL players "Sons of Bitches" and suggests they should get out of the country; the Governor of Maine, whose litany of bigotry includes this gem; a soon-to-be-confirmed federal judicial nominee who refuses to say if Brown v. Board of Education was wrongly decided; and many more.
But sure, George Wallace, Ross Barnett, Orval Faubus et al would still be Democrats today. No way they'd have a home in the GOP.

Like most Democrats in the South, by the mid-1960s Wallace was a Democrat in name only. His conservative views found little connection to the more liberal trend the Democratic Party was taking at the national level. Their response to the Civil Rights Act in 1964 is the perfect example of how Southern Democrats were thinking, including Wallace. And it's why Nixon and subsequently Reagan courted them with their "Southern Strategy".

I just laugh when people call Wallace a Democrat. It means nothing in the modern age. It's the same as calling Lincoln a Republican. The political parties those men were part of bear no resemblance to the current ones that use the same names.

    An “air of mystery.’ LOL.

I can’t wait until the resistance uncovers the true story.

Still there is an air of mystery. Friday morning, a reporter shouted a question to the president about a his wife’s whereabouts as he prepared to board Marine One to attend the Naval Academy commencement.

According to a pool report, President Trump responded by pointing to a window in the White House residence, and said: “She’s doing great. She’s looking at us right there.”

Reporters turned to look at the spot he indicated, but there was no sign of the first lady.

    Episode Two: Dark Tower

Trump, one reporter wrote, had more Russian contacts than a Moscow optometrist.

Wasn’t Russian collusion supposed to have been about the campaign?

How does a post election meeting fit into that narrative?
