    It’s a cross-gender Danny Almonte situation

It looks like Bale didn’t really direct the shot, but it was amazing skill.

Just making contact, let alone solid contact. That ball was moving.

Frankly, I don't think I've seen a more skilled goal in my life.

The ball went from Marcelo's foot and into the back of the net in two seconds. (Not hyperbole. Two seconds of actual time.) In the middle of those two seconds, Bale had to decide to attempt, and then actually execute, an overhead kick.

It was an insane goal. Factor in that Bale had never scored with an overhead kick in his career, and it doesn't even begin to make sense.

Kind of happy to see the youth movement for the USMNT kicking in tonight.

Zidane has just stepped down at Real Madrid, and the club management is clearly shocked.

Fabio Capello said Madrid would've sacked Zidane if he hadn't won the Champions League this season, and given the politics that swirl around the club and Florentino Perez's past behavior, I can believe it. Madrid has the resources to reload quickly, of course, but that squad will look nowhere near as fearsome if Ronaldo and/or Bale leave.
