But that's exactly how the Samantha Bee comment is being employed: "Roseanne was fired, but look at this bad thing this other person said and she's not been fired!"

 

Looks like Ted Cruz is responsible for the D'Souza pardon:

 

I respect your voice, @Alma, but this is a cop out. It's worse to be a racist than to be crude. I have no problem with what Bee said. That tweet by Ivanka was totally tone deaf, and she's long tried to have it both ways, to take advantage of her father's position but also to distance herself from him when the heat gets too warm. She can't have it both ways, and reason and polite talk doesn't work with these people. I probably wouldn't have used the c-word, but I'd happily say: "Fuck Donald Trump, and fuck his whole grifter family." And anybody who doesn't like it can go yell at a football player for kneeling or pardon a guilty-pleading felon just because he's on the right political side or tear babies from their families at the border or impose tariffs on allies or throw paper towels at hurricane victims or grab women by the pussy and brag about it.

 

She shouldn't have.

 

Only the Democrats could turn the racist rant of a Trump supporter, and turn it into a victory for Trump and Republicans.

 

She didn't say it onstage. She said it in a a tweet. Is there a difference? I don't know.

Bee said what she said on duty, on her show. Is there a difference?

Richard Pryor used the n-word, until he stopped. Chapelle and Rock use it.

Does that mean I can? You can? Some lesser comic or politician can?

Every case is different. And I don't use my own discomforts as the only metric.

She should have just ignored anything she doesn't want to address.

It's not fun to be at the center of something like this, and I understand, intellectually, why she felt that she needed to cave. But that apology is another victory for the true vulgarians, who never feel the need to apologize for anything they do in the cursed names of their cartoon villains and anti-saints.

 

Looks like ole Ted is trying to line up a paying gig alongside D'Souza.
