In early 80's saw Eddie Money do a Friday Night gig (called a multiple kegger) at the local Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) house; dude was totally sh*t faced, quite a come down from when he was a star with "Two Tickets to Paradise".

I'm planning on seeing Eddie Money tomorrow night at the Cherry Festival in a small Southern California town.

Also performing at the festival are Jefferson Starship and Great White & Autograph.

I thought this was Ben Folds Five, who might be a perfect example of one hit and a handful of more songs.

Maybe it's not performing those songs as much as the location of the performance.

I always liked The Modern Lovers because the alternative rock station played ''Roadrunner" when I was growing up. Also, The Sex Pistols' compilation had the band trying to play that song.

Precise Modern Lovers Order is a great album. I listened to it for years and then listened to some Velvet Underground live and it all made sense. The Modern Lovers ripped off VU's live sound. Precise Modern Lovers Order has a cover of an unreleased VU song and Jonathan Richman is mentioned in Lou Reed's biography as hanging out at VU's Boston shows.

Also on the Modern Lovers-VU connection. John Cale does a great cover of Pablo Picasso.

The Replacements meet Alex Chilton story. The band is recording songs with him in Minnesota before Tim. Chilton is staying with the manager.

Quote from Paul: "Alex ... he scares me in a way, but he's real. He's weird."
    Chris Mars: "Real weird."
Bob Stinson: "He was just a normal guy, like the rest of us."

Chapter 21. It might originally be from Tom Herbers in City Pages, June 8, 2005.

Modern Lovers was Jerry Harrison pre-Talking Heads, right?
I need to check that out. Heard of but can't recall actual hearing.

Is Corey Hart a 1-hitter or does "Never Surrender" count as his second (but lesser) hit?

Yes. Somebody else in the band went on to something like a locally famous punk band or producer, I think.
    EDIT
The drummer played in The Cars. Also, Cale produced an album.

Probably, at least in Canuckistan, where "The Boy in the Box" was a minor hit.
