I've recently listened to the first couple of episodes of Cocaine and Rhinestones, which talks about 20th century country music. First episode is about Ernest Tubb and the time he shot at a record producer. Second is about Loretta Lynn and her song "The Pill," which got banned from a bunch of radio stations when it came out.

The podcast is hosted by Tyler Mahan Coe, the son of David Allan Coe. So far, the kid hasn't mentioned his old man, for what that's worth.

Hit Parade on Slate, which is on monthly is really good.

The new 30 for 30 season, which was all about the issues surrounding Bikram yoga was pretty interesting.

The new Dave’s is here! They had me hooked the first time I heard “Let’s read Dameshek’s tweets.”

These days I'm into 'Political Beats' and 'TapeOp.'

FYI, the levels on 'TapeOp' are terrible.
They have a disclaimer that the recordings are all just releases of interviews done for their magazine, but it is still funny that a podcast for a magazine done by and for music producers and sound engineers suffers from poor sound.

I have to say, also, that 'Political Beats' is also plagued by sound quality issues and glitches.

I find Malcolm Gladwell's podcasts, Revisionist History, enlightening and provocative.

Have they made any new ones recently?

I listened to a few 'Revisionist History' episodes.
But I couldn't stick with it. Well produced but too many leaps of logic based on faulty premises or ideological views presented as consensus fact.
I think the golf one was the last I listened to.
I don't even play or care about golf, and I was getting frustrated listening to it.

Mafia is really, really good. You can probably guess the subject.

Like a lot of his stuff, I think some of it misses the mark, but some of it rung true to me. Like, it's crazy to me that big L.A. golf courses get tax breaks. Take away the tax breaks, and it's not like people are going to stop going to Brentwood or something.

Also, season three has started, I believe.
