I don't disagree with any of this, but in the case of Dick, at least, I think it's obvious to anyone who might care what happened there.

 

Dude, can you stop interrupting our State of the Board Thread with your Politics? We have a nice thing going. Don't ruin it.

 

The old, old board was shut down for less than that?

(Honestly, I thought they were just taking a vacation and spending time with their IRL friends and families.)

 

I agree it was good form to inform us up front about Boom's permaban. That was a wise move. But the banning itself was bullshit, an absurd overreaction.

If @Dick Whitman has been perma-banned then, like you, I wish the mods would tell us instead of leaving us guessing. And, if true, I think this will be a far more boring place without him. Dick had his unhinged moments, but he was also very smart, thought-provoking, interesting and fun. I'll miss him.

fwiw, I'm also curious about other well-liked names conspicuously missing lately. I know no conceivable reason why @LongTimeListener and @doctorquant would've been banned, yet seems like they disappeared right around the same time Dick and @YankeeFan did.

 

I think LTL may have made some anti-mod comments...

 

There was a time long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, when the board was self-policing. Like when Boom and 21 made fun of Rebecca Lobo.

 

Can I presume this to be a euphemistic way of saying "pissed off Ragu"?
