It is interesting to think a lot of this began with us "fighting them over there so they don't fight us over here." Seems every country is dealing with immigration issues from countries war-torn or facing other calamities. Nations are closing their borders, nationalism is on the rise with the anti-immigration sentiment. One of the points of globalization is that it would spread the wealth around and help stablize smaller countries around the world. These trade wars aren't helping.

As I said, the choices were let them out with their kids, or keep the parents and release the kids. Before, it was on a case by case basis, now they are opting to keep the parents because over 80% of the time, they wouldn’t show up for the hearing.

The reason kids are separated is because 1) there was sexual abuse going on and 2) human traffickers were crossing with kids posed as their relatives.
