    There are limits, and if I'm remembering right, legally you're supposed to be in the US for 24 hours to buy anything, and then the exemptions go up depending on how long you spend out of country. But whatever duties that are applied are applied by the Canadian government. They don't have anything to do with the US. So Canadians go to America, spend money in America, benefitting American retailers at least, and then come home and maybe pay Canadian duties but probably not. It's a net gain for the United States. Complaining about Canadians shopping in the US is like saying tourists aren't good for America, because while they spend money in the US, they use too many hotel rooms. It's impossibly dumb.

    That's not what Big Circus' hypothetical was responding to. I don't know why he chose a hypothetical instead of what DID happen under Obama. But caring about THAT stuff is what I was responding to. Although now I can see from where the confusion originated.

    Which rumors? Affairs with interns rumors or the in-the-closet rumors? (Though in some versions they are one and the same.)

    My favorite Cotton story involves Tom leaving his baby with his parents because he's on a super-duper important Senate fact-finding trip and his parents then finding out his back in the US by seeing him on MTP.
