How do you tell who the top 5 teams are in any sport?

Teams dread replays in the FA Cup. At the World Cup, even if it were somehow feasible, which it's not, they'd rather play to the death on the day. Or lose.

If they add 4 more weeks it can be two-match aggregate.

It was definitely planned. The soccer equivalent of the secondary break.

Wait till it's a 48-team World Cup. It will take a year.

That's true. So when people say there's no way to do a replay or two matches after pool play, how do they
think it's possible to keep adding teams.

Grabbing shorts like that isn't a yellow card?

The problem with replays is the schedules are set for the next round. So, more teams is dumb, I think, but you can build the schedule around it. (As far as I understand it, they plan on having 16 three-team groups, with one team advancing, so the knockout rounds stay unchanged.) The logistics of replaying a game—with the stadiums in constant use, and thousands of traveling fans, and the need for equal rest for teams, are just a bridge too far.

    Ok, most shots on goal?

    Most PKs?

    Yellow card differential?

    A combination of all?

Yes, but they can schedule it as two-match aggregate once it's knockout stage.
Champions League does it that way and most think that's the best soccer.
