Yep, but he did win the one, and I think in the long term, that means something. If he was the guy with monster numbers on teams that won 50 games only once and never played in the finals, that would have some resonance. Granted, the distance smoothes out some things, as it will for Durant.

Agreed. Put KD in a dream situation, with a great team culture and some polished veteran stars where he doesn't have to carry a massive load, and he easily wins. He's no doubt benefitted from the move to Golden State. I can't say that it's made him a better player, but I suppose it adds a little something to the resume.

No, I think Oscar's greatness would always have been evident. George Gervin never even made a Finals. Dominique Wilkins ditto. John Stockton didn't win a title. Nate Thurmond never did. Any list of all-timers without them is a bad list.

Neutral Corner and Tweener like this.

Unless he's playing with LeBron, Durant is the best player on the court. Curry included.

Oh greatness, sure. But he’s talked about in a different category than them. He was better, but a title makes it easy.

Add Elgin Baylor to that list, too.

As long as you talking Gervin and Wilkins, Alex English and Dan Issel are oft forgotten great scorers.

True. Issel did win an ABA title, though.

10 million is 10 million, but is it worth going from being a San Antonio lifer to Charlotte?
