And yet the life tenure system was fine in most cases (oops – hi, Clarence!) until McConnell hijacked the 60-vote confirmation requirement, then blocked the vote on a legitimate candidate. Now it's total partisan polarization in what should have remained a process that had relied on compromise for decades. McConnell should live out his life in shame.

It’s not every week that the Israeli state Holocaust memorial of Yad Vashem and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) issue statements rebuking the Prime Minister of Israel for distorting the historical record of one of the greatest tragedies ever to befall the Jewish people. But it did happen last week.

 

Joe Trillo is a businessman and former Republican state rep running for Governor of Rhode Island. Sunday afternoon he was campaigning by running his 65-foot motor yacht alongside public beaches blaring out slogans and patriotic music over loudspeakers. In his attempt to get closer to the voters, he got too close to shore, ran onto rocks and had to be hauled off. He blamed inaccurate charts from NOAA. Alas for him, in the era of cell phone cameras, it's clearly shown he was twice as close to shore as he claimed (and that is permitted). Somehow, a Republican wrecking his yacht while campaigning seems just a little on the nose.

 

Please. McConnell has no shame — the same as most politicians of every stripe.
