As some guy once said, deserve ain't got nothing to do with it. The Emmys are almost always some combination of critical and popular appeal.

I’m finishing season 2 now, and I am enjoying season 2 much more than season 1.

The episode focusing on the Native Americans is great and heart wrenching as is the Asian storyline.

I am not looking into minutia with this series, but I am looking at it with broad strokes. I don’t give a shit if I don’t recognize a certain dog right away.

How they handle a living thing gaining soul, love and memory and how that living thing handles these new emotions or human traits is pretty awesome.

    The acting is phenomenal.

I actually don't watch Black-ish. And the direction they went in the season's closing episodes still disturbed me. Don't need that in sitcom world.

How are you disturbed by the direction of a show you don't watch?

Because the generality of what they were doing left me cold, given what I look to get from a sitcom.

And the commercials -- foreboding and dark.

Did you pull a hammy trying to make that stretch work?

OK, last two episodes could have been stronger.

Glad to see the guy who played Ed Kemper in Mindhunter (the big serial killer who liked women's shoes) was nominated for an Emmy as guest actor.

Succession is fun; I enjoy the different storylines and how they pace the changes.

Just started "Sharp Objects"; read book and mostly forgot storyline, which is a good thing.

Like Jessica Jones, season 2 of Luke Cage is very "inward" with various characters working out "stuff" rather than facing down various villains. Though Cage does have a great performance (as usual) by Alfre Woodard. Could have used more action, but it was remarkably deep for a "comic book show."
