No way. They’re not going to do anything to Trump because their remarkably stupid base voters, some of whom vote against their own interests because they love the macho nonsense, will revile them for crucifying their savior.

Agreed. This was an egregious eff-up. Apology accepted and all that, but it’s right on the line of reckless disregard for the truth.

There was a reason why she tweeted that out. It was a gotcha moment. Well, if you're gonna have a gotcha moment, you'd better have it right.

Nah, they'll just tell the stupid base that Pence is Trump with better spelling on his tweets.

Trump has a grip on the party. It’s obvious that Pence has most of Trump’s bigotry but with the hint of competence that comes with prior office-holding. That’s why I assumed the GOP would jettison Trump. After all, when you whack Trump, it’s not like you wind up with H Clinton. You get an ideologue and theocrat who will do all the republican things — kill the poor, uplift the rich, promote one flavor of an otherwise noble religion, demonize women and minorities— without embarrassing the party or country. But we’re 18 months in, and they know Trump is an electoral force in their klan. Candidates are falling all over themselves to prove which of them loves their savior the most. Oppose him even a bit and you can get primaried. Ask Mark Sanford. Anybody who votes for impeachment in the House or removal in the Senate will be toast.

Then they can stand with him and go down. And the next time the Democrats have total control, they can watch as their handiwork is destroyed, their leaders tried and convicted for their crimes, and the majority says, "fuck your feelings."

If only the Republican Senators weren't traitors too, this might have had some traction:

    Trump's either stupid or he's a liar.

    Neither one is good.

Let's be clear, though: YF's true motivation in raising hell over a cutline mistake is to distract from all the people who showed up on camera while cozying up to the real spy Maria Butina. Including this doddering super-patriot right here ...
