Really looks like a one-sided trade in favor of the Spurs.

The Raptors weren't going anywhere with DeRozan, top three or four in the East. At worst, this gets them to the lottery quicker than they would have with the status quo

The Spurs got a player who will actually play for the team next season and they gave up a guy who refused to play for them last year and was most likely going to find a way to take money and not do his job again.

There was not a chance Kawhi was going to sit this year. If he did, he wouldn't get paid.

The Spurs got the safer side long-term. DeRozen is a good player and under contract for a few more years.

The Raptors are better this year, are better long-term if they can either keep Kawhi or flip him for something valuable, and have a head-start on a rebuild if they can't.

It's a massive win for Toronto if they can sign him. Otherwise, both sides get what they need in a somewhat underwhelming deal.

And what did I say was wrong? Leonard played 9games last year. And didn’t want to play for the Spurs last year. Now they have a player who will actually show up

In various sports, I hear talk about players wanting to go tax friendly states, but never anything about the tax burden of playing Canada.
How does playing in Canada effect Leonard’s net income?

Lol. It’s been a huge issue for 40 years, in all sports.

I think the Raptors have even less leverage than the Spurs did, though. Hard to believe Leonard is going to stay in Toronto.

Yeah, but the difference is the Spurs adamantly did not want to trade him to LA. They were asking for the moon. That's not an issue for the Raptors, who would likely be open to a much more reasonable return.
