True, but look at the hypothetical deal I was responding to. Ingram and Kouzma.

Wojnarowski said tonight Leonard is "warming" to the idea of going there.

If he doesn't play...he cant become a free agent next summer. He'll play somewhere.

How awkward will it be if he fails the physical and he has to go back to SA and DeRozan returns to Toronto?

The Raptors lose a great player like DeRozan and get Leonard for a year. They’re not going to sign him to a long term deal. He’s made it clear he wants to play for the Lakers. You may see it differently but I think the Raptors gave up too much.

A player they weren’t going any further with. It allows them to rebuild after, great trade Raptors.

Yeah, team with the best record in the conference should be looking to rebuild. If he plays one season and they
go no further than they did this year, it's not a good trade.

It's a reasonable point, but the Raptors were not going to compete with Boston. That lineup wasn't going to win anything going forward -- particularly with a first year coach.

Yeah, that’s exactly how it should play out. They were not better or going to get better than the Celtics and Sixers.

You don't win without a transformative player and the Raptors didn't have one. So no matter how many 56 win seasons they have, they were never going to win the title with that team. Kawhi is 27 and was the best player on the court in a finals series which had about 7 other players who are going to Springfield.

These players don't come on the market often, and when they do, they are typically somewhat damaged goods. You have to do everything you can to get him. And if he leaves, you can shed Lowry and Ibaka in a year and rebuild.

If Raptors got rid of OG or Siakam, then it would have been a bad trade for them. Since they kept both pieces and got a top 5 player in the process, then both teams get good players in the trade. @JC is 100% on his assessment of this trade.

Everybody was certain the George was only going to OKC for a year and then jumping to the Lakers.
I'm not saying Leonard will stay in Toronto, but it is possible, if unlikely.

And that's why you drop in the draft
