Guy who said the Georgia GOP gubernatorial primary was about who could be the craziest on the most divisive issues got crushed yesterday. The winner, endorsed by Trump, ran ads showing him pointing a shotgun at a kid wanting to date his daughter.

    Sure. Let's take a look.

To make it easy for folks, I'll break it down for you, while posting the full text, and links at the bottom.

Read to the end, it gets better, and more obvious.

Hudson: (T)he NFL is not a state.

Ragu: Putting aside that the NFL isn't the state.

Hudson: Why does the NFL share revenue between teams(?) … The NFL shares revenue to maximize profit!

Ragu: The NFL shares revenue between teams, but that is because of profit motive.

Hudson: The NFL’s business model is not in place to fulfill some ideological compulsion, to be “fair” for fairness’s sake.

Ragu: They aren't redistributing wealth out of some sense of fairness.

Hudson: In order for people to indulge that discretionary demand, they must have discretionary income. In order to have discretionary income, they must produce something which carries enough value in the market to more than meet their basic needs.

Ragu: In order for people to indulge that discretionary demand, they need discretionary income. To get that discretionary income, they need to produce something that the market values enough to more than meet their basic needs.

    Full quote from Hudson:

(T)he NFL is not a state. This is not a semantic quibble, nor a failure to recognize an analogy. Maher’s specific claim is that the NFL is socialist, and its socialism is why it works. Strictly speaking, if we care at all about the actual meaning of words, his claim is dead on arrival. But that’s the boring argument.

Maher fails to address the single most relevant factor in the NFL’s business model – motive. Why does the NFL share revenue between teams, make the Super Bowl champions pick last in the next draft, and otherwise take measures to ensure competitiveness throughout the league? It does so in order to craft an exciting product which it then takes to a free market to sell. The NFL’s business model is not in place to fulfill some ideological compulsion, to be “fair” for fairness’s sake. The NFL shares revenue to maximize profit!

The NFL is a business which operates within an economy, not an economy in and of itself. The reason its business model works is because it meets a discretionary demand in the market.

In order for people to indulge that discretionary demand, they must have discretionary income. In order to have discretionary income, they must produce something which carries enough value in the market to more than meet their basic needs.

Tackling Bill Maher’s “NFL Is Socialist” Rant | NewsReal Blog

    Full quote from Ragu:

You can call the NFL model whatever you want. It certainly isn't socialism, which was your claim.

Putting aside that the NFL isn't the state.

The NFL shares revenue between teams, but that is because of profit motive. It does that to make a better product, which it then sells into a free market. They aren't redistributing wealth out of some sense of fairness. They are trying to create a product (and do it successfully) that meetis discretionary demand within a larger economy.

In order for people to indulge that discretionary demand, they need discretionary income. To get that discretionary income, they need to produce something that the market values enough to more than meet their basic needs.

That is capitalism in a nutshell.

Call their business model whatever you want, collectivism, gefiltafishism or martianism. That is your non-explanatory term. It's still an entity selling a product into a free market for discretionary entertainment income.

LOL. OK, so, it's not that Ragu didn't steal the words, it's just that it's not an infraction here?

    That's an awesome defense.

Inasmuch as you generally post tweets, I don't see the difference.
