What's the point of a BLT? It's a waste of all the ingredients.

Just make a salad with crumbled bacon.

I don't eat tomatoes and I always seem to get behind a damn tomato truck driving on I-5 to the Bay Area.

Nothing in the world is better (food-wise, at least) than a good heirloom tomato that goes from the vine to the plate in about 4 minutes. And my experience has been that the uglier the tomato, the better it tastes.

A little salt and pepper on a freshly picked tomato that is sliced and/or cut into chunks is an amazing part of summer.

Great call. Cubanos are quality sandwiches.

I hate tomatoes in raw form unless mixed in a salsa, so to me a BLT is a little lacking. If I'm feeling a simple sandwich that isn't just turkey and cheese, I'd rather order a club sandwich. I get my bacon, lettuce and mayo but with the added bonus of turkey and ham to round things out.

I love a plain tomato sandwich wit Dukes mayo and a little salt and pepper. White bread, preferably.

One of our favourite breakfast spots has their own take on the BLT:

    HD “BLT”
Butter toasted bun, roast garlic aioli, 5 slices crisp bacon, avocado,
    tomato, arugula served with homefries

Tomatoes are the Devil's Apple. Why would I want you to take a cold wet dump on my sandwich, especially if it's a hot sandwich? There is nothing in the world that can overpower the deliciousness of bacon except for tomato. It's exactly the wrong thing to put on a bacon sandwich.

I literally tell the coffee shop to take the tomatoes they were going to put on my sandwich and throw them in the trash so that nobody else has to eat them.

The BLT is the PERFECT carriage for the tomato because the bacon's bumpiness creates enough friction for the tomato to not slide off — as long as the tomato is not in contact with the slippery lettuce — thereby solving the vexing issue of tomatoes slip-sliding off a sandwich, a problem that makes the tomatoes on burgers such a delicious but dangerous proposition.

I've always liked you, but you are so wrong here, I'm not sure I can get past it. It's like finding out someone thinks Godfather III is better than The Godfather. Where do you go from there?

Completely agree that tomato is no way to top a burger.

But as a matter of sammich physics, condiment hydraulics and the coefficients of kinetic friction, it's hard to argue with.
