Some thoughts:

1. I'm glad I'm not a sane conservative, because you have no one to vote for.

2. I'm careful, here and elsewhere, to make a distinction between a conservative and a Republican, because they aren't the same thing anymore.

3. Can anyone reasonably argue at this point that Trump isn't racist? Does anyone want to make that argument here?

4. If he is a racist, can you still support him if you like some of the other things he's doing and not be racist yourself? It's an interesting question. I would side no, I think—if you're the enabler of the world's most powerful racist, you're a racist, too—but I would like to hear the counterargument.

5. If Melania leaves him while he's in office, he really will lose his fucking mind. We all need her to suffer through this and then leave him after. But God, she must fucking hate him.

Well, just a suggestion, if someone does attempt to answer those questions, perhaps give him a good faith listen instead of immediately leaping for the jugular.

Take the example of one this thread's recent departees: @Batman. Despite his conservative leanings, I'd hope we all agree that Batman is a thoughtful guy willing to consider alternative viewpoints, and seems like a really good guy. Well, a couple weeks ago, he had a post, admittedly of highly dubious reasoning, in which he tried to give a defense of Trump in a sincere and amiable tone. But that effort was met with screaming hostility. I believe one poster called it the single stupidest post in the history of the board (or something like that), and a stream of others mocked it in a tone that suggested he must be the dumbest motherfucker ever.

Well, you know, I believe that episode was the last time we saw batman here. I presume because he understandably concluded from it that there's no point trying to talk to us. He's precisely the type of conservative-leaning poster that should be welcome on this thread--but that ain't the message he received when he tried to express his thoughts here.

 

To answer No. 3, there are 30-year-old photos of him with black celebrities, including Jesse Jackson, receiving some humanitarian award.
Also, it's probably only fair to set the bar so high that you should give him the benefit of the doubt on anything short of lynching.

 

Nope. No way. Shouldn't even be a thing. The odds of anything good happening are infinitesimal.
