So a lot of us grew up with it in school. It's actually great pizza...until you have pizza from just about anywhere else.

You get right down to it, New Haven should probably be ahead of New York.

Believe me, I get the appeal of a big, thin NY slice. It can be mouth-watering. But there are other great pizzas. We have some great pizza around here; they're just well-hidden, not much word-of-mouth.

A pizzeria in my hometown reopened last year after 15 years. It was the second-best pizzeria in town when I grew up. But when I came back, I got within 10 feet of the front door and was immediately thrown back 40 years by the tart smell of the dough and sauce. It was orgasmic.

Not EXACTLY correct but close enough for rock 'n roll.

C'mon you should be close enough to have had Detroit-style done correctly, with the caramelized cheese crust. Not some of the abortions (@QYFW hey) that get passed of as "Detroit-style" these days (including some of the originators like Buddy's, which is a shadow of what it used to be back in the day).

Was going to reference Quad Cities pizza, but figured no one would relate.

I grew up there, so I'm biased, but that's a pretty decent pizza. The malty undertones to the slightly thick crust, and the pieces cut in long rectangles, always takes me home again. Doesn't measure up to NY or Chicago style, IMO, but I'll take it as a strong No. 3.

If Detroit-style pizza has anything to do with the dreck that Little Caesar's serves, that's a bullshit option.

I was going to make the connection between Detroit-style and Little Caesar's. I think Little Caesar's carmelized cheese crust is delicious myself.

The best pizza I've eaten in America is from Biga Pizza in Missoula, Montana. It is maybe the weirdest combination of magnificent foodstuff and unlikely place I can remember.

That weird combination for me is Luigi's in Weatherford Oklahoma.

Their shrimp primavera ranks top 15-20 meals I've ever had.

Shrimp primavera is truly awful pizza. Anywhere.

Oh, I remember Quad-Cities pizza. Harris Pizza with sausage and onions? Yes!

And I've mentioned this before ... Happy Joe's was the first taco pizza I ever ate, and still the only place to get it right.

I'd never heard of Quad Cities pizza, but cutting it into strips is an interesting twist. Not with scissors, though.

Quad City-style pizza is a unique pizza style that centers around the Quad Cities region of Iowa and Illinois in the United States. The crust has a nutty taste, the tomato sauce is sometimes spicy, the toppings are under the cheese, and the pizza is cut into strips.

I must've been tired when I wrote that. LOL
I didn't include the crust, you are right.
But thinking of it...I don't think outside of LC, I may have had a "Detroit-style" pizza. I usually am too busy drinking beer or getting gyros at Pegasus or Nicky's, a Lafayette coney or Slow's BBQ when I am in town. :)
