The White House called a lid on the day this morning before 11 Eastern. I guess Trump is scheduled to play 36 today.

... but really: Don't bother, because I know factually and first-hand you're talking out of your ass to make excuses for the Vacationer in Chief.

    Azrael-
The business of gathering news (and the polity) is better off if the cycle were not driven by discussion of what some idiot said in a tweet.
It's not just news where this is happening either, and it predates Trump.
We need to move beyond this in order to fix the problem. It's a dog not returning to its own vomit, but a dog wanting many other dogs to talk about its vomit.

See, you took that as a shot, but it was a legitimate question.

You think I don't value education, while the opposite is true. I value it immensely, believe it is possible to attain it in many ways, and strive to continue to educate myself every day.

And, like you, the people I've met, the experiences I've had, and the places I've gone, as a result of leaving college, have educated me in ways that are very different than what I would have experienced had I stayed in school, but were also immensely valuable.

You see, I learned about people, and life, working in a boatyard.

I was lucky enough to work along side a guy who had never been north of the Florida-Georgia border, and had never been on an airplane. But, he and his wife were loving foster parents, he could fix anything, and he was patient and kind when teaching me how to fix espresso machines. When he mentioned a class he was taking, I was shocked that this guy, who was smart as hell, was taking classes to get his GED.

I don't have anything against a formal college education (assuming the student can afford it, and/or is making a good investment, that should result in a prosperous career).

I don't believe it's the only way to educate one's self, and don't judge folks, or their intelligence, based on their schooling, or lack thereof.

Been watching the U.S. attorney's newser announcing the indictment. Classic case of taking care of his own first. And, perhaps to impress Trump, charts and everything.

Well, here's what happened in the House today:

10:03 AM The Speaker announced that the House do now adjourn pursuant to section 2(b) of H. Res. 1012. The next meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 10, 2018.
10:02 AM PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair led the House in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
10:02 AM SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - Pursuant to section 2(a) of H. Res. 1012, the Journal of the last day's proceedings was approved.
10:01 AM Today's prayer was offered by Chaplain Captain Keith Manry, U.S. Air Force, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA
10:00 AM The Speaker designated the Honorable Barbara Comstock to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

So, they were in session for three minutes, adjourned by 10:03, and I'm going to guess the session was fairly lightly attended.

The Senate held a pro forma session yesterday, and has another one scheduled for Friday. Very few Senators will attend these sessions. They have no committee hearings scheduled today.

What percentage of "the government" or even just the executive branch is represented by the 535 senators and representatives?

Might need @doctorquant to verify, but I'm pretty sure it's a statistically not-significant percentage.

Collins is a slimeball. Jack Kemp weeps in heaven at what has become of his congressional seat.

    JFC.

What do you think the President does?

He's not a middle manager in some department.

The House and Senate aren't in session. The SCOTUS isn't in session. Many federal judges are on vacation.

What would you like Trump to be doing today?

And, even the press "lid" only means that the media doesn't need to stick around, because there will be no further statements, or photo opportunities, coming from the WH today. It doesn't mean he's not still working.
