Don't over think it. Sessions is still AG because he can directly connect Trump to treason. And Sessions keeps skating his lane because Trump can directly link HIM to treason.

Mueller's findings --- and the actions that follow those findings --- could throw an already divided nation into a situation where all gloves are off about everything. No election will be deemed legitimate. Removing the POTUS will be the goal of the opposition party and its supporters starting the day after inauguration. No measure to accomplish this will be off the table. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Mueller could, just could, be that cure.
