Thanks for beating me to pointing out, once again, that Birtherism originated in the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Are we really going to pretend that Bill and Hillary didn't use racial appeals, and messaging in their campaign against Obama?

It's just funny that the guy who can't figure out whether his cousin's friend was raped by Clinton, is also totally sure that Trump is a racist.

And, if he is, and was for the whole 35 years he's been president, then why hasn't a single media executive asked for forgiveness for promoting and partnering with an acknowledged racist?

Why haven't Joe and Mika explained why they were friends with a racist?

 

There is no "amount of evidence" with the N-word thing. None. Only people repeating a rumor via hearsay, but not a single identifiable person who actually claims to have heard him say it.

But there is evidence with the Clinton thing. Granted, it may be evidence you disbelieve or regard to be discredited. Nonetheless, actual evidence exists.

So, no, the situations really aren't that similar. As noted before, the far more accurate analog to this would be the "whitey tape" rumors right wingers were floating about Michelle Obama several years ago. Unless and until some real evidence emerges, this is essentially the same thing as that.

Unless Trump and his lickspittles actually, y’know, are guilty of charges, and considering there have already been guilty pleas from within the Trump orbit, Mueller is well on his way. In which case that means the systems that have maintained the legitimacy of the republic to prevent and punish this sort of criminal malfeasance are working just dandy, thank you.

If Trump is found to have been guilty of a serious crime—he's found to have been treasonous, for instance—his supporters will believe that he was framed, that he's the victim of a conspiracy, or that whatever he did wasn't that bad or was even necessary to save America. These people are fucking impenetrable.

 

Aside from the factual error you know good and well you made regarding the genesis of the investigation, which I again remind you is being conducted almost entirely by card-carrying Republicans, I ask how can an investigation result in anything if it’s unending?
