People keep claiming it's illegal to use a recording device in a SCIF but I've yet to see that backed up with a federal statute.

It's absolutely considered to be a risk to bring an electronic device in because they could be bugged or otherwise compromised compromised. But I haven't seen evidence that it's against federal law, unless I'm missing something.

Also, for any illegal wiretap claims, D.C. is a one party consent region. Omarosa can legally record any conversation she materially takes part in.

Edit: To be clear, it's incredibly dangerous to have a recording device in a SCIF. Stupid. Against protocol. If she were an employee, she'd probably be fired. But not illegal if it didn't record classified info. Plus, Kelly already fired her. lso, in a normal administration, Kelly would be reprimanded for holding a personnel meeting in the situation room.
