The performances are great. Can't say the "scope" is as big as the first two seasons, the stakes seem a lot lower. Still good, some great callbacks to the movie and other Coen Bros. fare.
So the next Fargo is going to be set in Kansas City? I think the snow is what makes the show.

Just quality all the way. Yeah, Season 5 had some issues when Sorkin and Lowe left. But even then, it was better than most things on TV. And it rebounded in a big way in 6 and 7.

So many little moments really stick with you. For some reason, one that gets me every time is when Leo was going through all his issues with the hearings, etc. The scene where Jed comes in, hands him the framed napkin and says "That was awfully nice of you." Gets a little dusty in here...

Dammit, I have work to do. But I haven't watched the show in a long time. I might have to start over again tonight.

I didn’t care for it but I’ve come to think I have weird standards compared to most TV critics who seem to like entirely too many things.

I thought season 3 was very frivolous and, ultimately, kind of stupid.

I totally forgot. Young Mrs. Landingham in the Two Cathedrals flashback was the Chief from Psych and Bartlett's dad was played by Lawrence O'Donnell - who was a writer/producer on the show. .

Dee Dee Myers served as a consultant as well.

Never watched Psych, but that actress did a great job as young Mr. Landingham.

I get the theory, but really it is just how Aaron Sorkin writes and they stuck with that style after he left the show. Check out The American President, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Sports Night or The Newsroom. The style of the dialogue is the same.

That is a great moment, and ties so well into the series finale. They did a nice job following up on things many episodes, even seasons later. For example, when Josh was explaining why he did something for Leo..."Because a guy fell in a hole."

The went over a year before saying how that whole ship in a hurricane thing played out. And some great odd relationships, Hoynes and Leo, Toby and prety much everybody, but his battles with the President were the best. Even the Bartlett daughters. Oliver Platt and John Larroquette's stints . And that they brought in Lily Tomlin as the new secretary and it was later revealed her character was the one who forwarded Charlie Young's resume to Josh for the President's aide position - and got fired for it since a big donor's kid was ticketed for the spot.
Many - that trivia section on IMDB is nuts. Toby smiled exacty 21 times during the entire run of the show. Anybody want to guess how many people from Revenge of the Nerds appeared on the show?

That's a great trivia question. I knew two off the top of my head, then looked at the cast list on imdb and found three more. If you expand it to include Revenge of the Nerds II, then there's one notable addition.

I started binging on The West Wing when I first got Netflix. Didn't watch it much when it was in first run (partly because I thought it would be too liberal-leaning -- I was a bit farther to the right back then), but I caught a few during the end of its run and thought it was very good. Watching the early episodes (and clips on YouTube) had me blown away at how good it was.
I got out of the habit in the middle of the fifth (?) season (subconsciously, I might be nervous about handling the whole Zoe storyline I know is coming up), but now I'm hitting the rabbit hole on YouTube clips again, so I'm thinking I might have to start it up again.

The Zoey storyline had its flaws, but it also gave us "Babies Come with Hats," which I love. That entire episode is fantastic.

Did you read the entire trivia section. They had actually mentioned Tomlin's character, Debbie, in the third episode of the first season, when Charlie was hired. They changed her last name, explaining that LaGuardia was her married name. After getting divorced, she chose to go by her maiden name, Fiderer.
