To play him at first base? They probably feel pretty solid with LeMahieu at second, though he has been a little disappointing.

 

Too bad they can't fix the actual mistake and get Cole back.

Nah. I guess you thought they were better off trading Meadows, Glasnow and Baz, a top-100 prospect, for the privilege of watching Chris Archer pitch five innings or fewer every turn.

 

Yes. Right now they have Desmond and rookie Ryan McMahon. Murphy would have made a lot more sense.

I can see that. It's a good question since it would only be a salary commitment the rest of this season.

 

I presume Andruw Monasterio is one of those prospects who will never ever sniff the big leagues?

 

Monasterio is not a top-30 prospect (by MLBPipline) in the Cubs farm system - which is lousy.
