I have to think that the GOP, tonight, has to start eating itself, even if it's just for show. Because if not, the bar, the standard of political behaviour, will be so lowered, the Democrats who follow Trump and his minions into power will feel equally unfettered by what were once the usual weights and measures of national office. The GOP has to pretend, at least, to care about the rule of law again. If they sit idly by after today's news, they're going to get swept out AND leave the door wide open for even more toxic shit for decades to come. "Trump" will be the argument against every single one of their arguments, whatever their merits.

It has to mean something if you break the law. Otherwise the law is meaningless.

True. I doubt that Trump ever went to Switzerland and had his entire blood supply replaced either.

The rallies keep him sane. Well, saner. Well... a little less likely to come apart over nothing, anyhow.

I wish you were right. I know you are wrong about what they will do. They will ignore it. They will pass it off. They won’t do anything about it. There are no consequences for conservative transgressions. Right wing, conservatives, evangelicals and republicans are beyond the law .

lol, correction made with no acknowledgement.

"Two of the protesters were dressed as Ku Klux Klan members — in white hoods and robes, a reference to white supremacist David Duke’s endorsement of Trump — and carried signs that read, “Trump: make America racist again,” the documents said."

What will likely happen is someone will convince some dumb guy to call for the President to step down. That guy will get hounded by Trumpsters, but gain enough "gravitas" from everyone else that more members of the GOP will break away. I think most will realized it is better to toss Trump overboard, than risk him causing further damage.

I don't see them dumping him before the midterms, and he's going to be the great big stinky elephant in the room until then... and they are still afraid to say a word. We'll see, I'm past trying to guess what the Republicans will tolerate or try to get away with.

Don't expect any Republicans to shift their stance on Trump based on morality.

It's pretty simple. They will come out against Trump once they sense they can win a GOP primary without being a Trump loyalist. It's not happening a second sooner.
