    Re: Manafort Pardon

There was a former prosecutor on one of the talking head shows last night who explained that a pardon of Manafort would open up his being subpoenaed by state prosecutors and Congressional committees...it would be expected that he'd refuse those, and thus face legal jeopardy...which would then set up the situation where Trump would literally have to be pardoning him as frequently as on a daily basis. She noted why would he want to be doing that, when in fact Trump is only concerned about Trump and pardoning Manafort won't really do a damn thing for Trump's personal interests.

People seem to forget Manafort has another trial.
The worst scenario I see unfolding is him pardoning everyone (including Pharma Bro) and then resigning, and Pence pardoning him.

This is a very good point and I do tend to dismiss that. It is incredible that a wide swath of white Americans does want to take the vote away from black people — the same Americans who say racism is over, too.

The impeachment charges would have been rolled out first thing this morning.

Thank you for posting these! -- WinnebegoFans.com must be erupting in a dogfight over the 2019 paint schemes or something, because no one over here has been able to roll out these talking points yet.

More trouble, because if Manafort is pardoned then he could be subpoenaed and compelled to testify before Congress or a grand jury. Or both.

A pardon just feeds the narrative of obstruction, and Manafort can just be tried in NY state court, where a presidential pardon is meaningless. And accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt, which means Fifth Amendment protections no longer apply. If he's pardoned and refuses to testify, he can be convicted of contempt.

Then, of course, Trump can pardon that, rinse and repeat.
