2018 Pro Wrestling thread

I've never cared for it at all. It always seems like it's treated as a default title, except with no significance whatsoever, and it always drags on too long. Some guys have gotten a mild push from it I guess (I think Wade Barrett was the last one, if memory serves), but they rarely seem to parlay it into a main event push or championship run.

 

I actually LOVED King Booker, primarily because Booker sold it with complete absurdity.

Booker was the one guy who took the gimmick and made something of it.

 

I have fond memories of the reign of the Macho King, Randy Savage.

 

IF Braun is getting friends to fight the Shield, who would you want them to be?

Ziggler and Drew?

Authors of Pain?

Bray and Harper (considering Hardy and Rowan both just got hurt...)?

Other?

 

Which wrestlers, other than Jerry Lawler, got saddled with the King gimmick at one time or another?

Harley Race
Hacksaw Duggan
Mabel
Macho Man
Booker T
William Regal
Wade Barrett

 

A wrestler named Bobby Shane had the king gimmick in the early 70s. He gave Lawler his first king regalia to borrow, but then was killed in a plane crash that injured some other wrestlers. Then Lawler's manager, Sam Bass gave him a crown and later was killed with a couple other wrestlers in a car crash. So Lawler, for a while, said there was a curse for anyone who gave him a crown.

Also, Owen had the king gimmick. Also, Haku was Harley's replacement when he got hurt.

 

Damn, I was rooting for Ronda to beat the shit out of Elias.
